About Inspire...

what...

Inspire is a range of easy-to-use self-worth courses designed to bring love, hope, and restoration to a whole generation by empowering, encouraging, and equipping people to become everything they were created to be. The courses aim to build self-worth in children, teenagers, and adults, helping them develop a high level of self-esteem and self-respect, which in turn helps improve their mental well-being.

The courses encourage people to challenge and reject the lies the world tells them and instead accept and embrace the truth about their real value, worth and identity so that they can embrace life and reach their full potential.

Each course is packed full of imaginative, creative, and inspiring ideas and activities and comes with additional teaching resources to help make the learning experience engaging, interactive, practical, and fun.

Christian versions of the course are available for churches and Christian organisations. These courses include biblical teaching and key truths from scripture to help people understand their worth and identity through God’s eyes so they can live in freedom and become everything He created them to be.

why...

In 2014, the author Laura was invited to go to Uganda with the charity Amigos to help teach a self-worth program to some of the world’s most disadvantaged girls and young women. As a former primary school teacher who specialised in techniques for improving self-esteem in children whilst at university and with a passion for seeing people reach their full potential, she jumped at the opportunity to get involved.

The self-worth program taught during the trip had originally been designed for a very different culture and setting, so Laura searched for other, more suitable material for future trips but could not find any. This was the point at which she felt inspired to write a completely new self-worth course specifically tailored to the needs of Ugandan girls and women.

After taking teenage girls (including her own daughter) from the UK to Uganda to teach the course, she soon realised that it was having as much of an impact on their lives as those they were teaching it to, giving them confidence and hope for their future, that many of them did not previously have.

With so many people experiencing depression, anxiety, and a variety of other mental health issues associated with low self-worth, Laura started to receive requests for Inspire courses to be run in schools in the UK. As a mother of two sons as well as a daughter, and with many friends with teenage boys, she also became aware of the need to provide a self-worth course that is appropriate for boys as well as girls, so as soon as Inspire for Girls & Women was published, she continued to develop courses that are suitable for everyone!

who...

Each course has been carefully and sensitively designed for use with different age groups and genders and can be further adapted to suit the specific needs of individual groups and organisations where necessary.

The Inspire Signature Course has been specifically designed for use with children and teenagers of mixed genders between the ages of 10-14 years in a variety of faith-based or secular settings such as schools, youth groups, and youth charities.

The Inspire Bespoke Courses have been designed for use with children, teenagers, and adults in designated Christian settings such as church schools, churches, church youth groups and Christian charities.

Inspire courses can also be used with people from different cultures in long-term and short-term mission contexts.

where...

Inspire is suitable for teaching in different environments such as schools, community centres and churches. Depending on the size of the group, the courses can be taught in a classroom, community hall, church building, or for smaller groups who prefer a more intimate environment, even someone’s living room!

For larger groups of up to around 30 people, it is recommended to have extra space available for playing games and engaging in some of the other optional ‘fun’ activities. A hall or outdoor space would be ideal for this.

how...

Inspire is an interactive course which works best in a group setting with time and space to break up into smaller groups for discussion and activities. Timings for sessions are purposefully not given to allow teachers and course leaders a more flexible approach to using the material in a way that is most helpful and appropriate for their own group.

Each session is a complete unit, but they also follow on from one another and should be taught in the order they have been written to achieve the most effective and impactful learning experience for participants.

The ‘easy-to-use’ format of the Teachers’ and Leaders’ Guides, along with the PowerPoint Presentations, Activities Guide and additional Digital Downloads, mean that only minimal (if any) training is necessary for those with no teaching background. School teachers, youth leaders and individuals with teaching experience will not require any training to teach and facilitate the courses.

The importance of using a variety of good quality and well-sourced teaching resources to deliver Inspire should not be underestimated, and they should be used wherever specified to provide a more illustrative, interactive, practical, and fun approach to teaching and learning.

Laura Newall

My course writing journey began in 2014 when a charity invited me to go to Uganda to help teach a self-worth program to some of the world’s most disadvantaged girls and young women. As a former primary school teacher who specialised in techniques for improving self-esteem in children whilst at university, and with a passion for seeing people reach their full potential, I jumped at the opportunity to get involved.

After that first trip to Africa and with future trips planned, I felt inspired to write a self-worth course that was not only more culturally relevant to the girls and women in Uganda but one which could be adapted for use in a variety of cultures and settings, and suitable for different ages and genders, so I continued developing and writing courses that can be used globally and are relevant to all.

My vision is for all people to understand the truth about their worth and identity so that they have the confidence and faith to embrace the future, live in true freedom, and become everything they were created to be.

Run a course...

Do you have a need in your community or feel your group would benifit from participating in a self-worth program? Why not consider running a course?
